According to a transcript in regards to what he should do about the Aldon Smith DUI situation 49ers CEO Jed York said “there’s no right answer,” and said that HC Jim Harbaugh made the call with his consultation.
“We thought it was the best decision for Aldon and for him in the future and for him to make progress and get better,” York said when asked by a reporter whether Smith played with an eye on giving the club the best chance at winning.-NBCSports.com
Smith is reportedly seeking treatment stemming from his DUI arrest Friday morning and York said that that was a factor in allowing him to play on Sunday, however I wonder what the decision would have been had it not been a player of Aldon’s caliber. In reality this is a business and NFL teams will keep their best assets on the field as much as they can in order to win. I am happy that Smith is getting treatment for his issues and hopefully it will be resolved.
