According to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, the San Francisco 49ers have confirmed that defensive end Aldon Smith was involved in an incident on Saturday morning and has suffered minor injuries.
The 49ers released the following statement:
“The San Francisco 49ers are aware that Aldon Smith incurred minor injuries during an incident last night. We are in contact with Aldon, and thankful that his injuries were not more serious and that he is recovering comfortably. The 49ers are also in communication with local authorities as they gather information regarding the incident, and will reserve further comment at this time.”
Maiocco’s sources have told him that Smith suffered minor stab wounds in his shoulder and abdomen, likely from a small pocket knife while attempting to break up a fight at a party. He was treated and released from the hospital at 5am.
